The Commissary
The Commissary located in West Hollywood near Fairfax and Melrose has become my new favorite place for morning coffee. It has the vibe of a cool, artsy coffee shop, the kind you would stumble upon in New York's Greenwich Village. They roast coffee beans from the likes of
Sightglass, Coava, and Victrola and use a big 3-group Synesso Cyncra espresso machine.
They make a delicious latte. Ask for it with a pump of their homemade vanilla syrup, order hot or iced, and I say that's a pretty darn good start to the day. If you're hungry, they offer an assortment of baked goods from Friandise Pastries in the Valley and extra-virgin olive oil granola with yogurt that is very tasty! In addition, there is a nice little outdoor seating area where you can see writers typing away on their laptops as they edit their latest scripts and hipsters basking in the sun with their dogs. Bonus: There is plenty of parking. And if you are an LA resident, you know that counts for 80 percent. To be able to drive up with the guarantee of a parking spot, get a great cup of local coffee all while sitting outside under a white linen umbrella, I think The Commissary and I have a future of many more mornings together.
