It's Lilac Time!

Having grown up outside of Boston and being a true New Englander at heart, Spring is not Spring without the budding of lilacs. California gets them in bloom a little earlier than back East and when I spotted them at the Farmer's Market last week, excitement is an understatement. These happen to be particularly fragrant and fill the room with their unqiue scent. Take a look at my tricks below to ensure your lilacs last the longest!

Step 1: Lilacs have woody stems, by hammering the ends until they split, it allows blooms to drink up enough water to keep from wilting.

Step 2: Remove excess leaves or already wilted buds.

Step 3: Place in warm water and enjoy!
