Gift Guide for The Cook
For the chef in your life who needs some upgrades to get creative in the kitchen or a little inspiration to get them on their way.
THE LIST
Material Kitchen 8” Knife
Every chef needs a good knife, it is an essential. I just got this Material Kitchen knife, and besides being aesthetically pleasing, it is very sharp and cuts divinely. My new favorite!
Jenni Kayne Ceramic Serving Bowl
I love filling a ceramic bowl with lemons and displaying it on a dining table or kitchen counter. This one from Jenni Kayne is beautiful and also works for serving pasta or side dishes.
Serving Board
I love a wooden board for a decadent cheese spread or to serve appetizers on. These also look lovely leaning in your kitchen. I especially like the vintage weathered-looking ones.
The Cook’s Atelier Cookbook
When I need to be re-inspired, I always turn to my cookbooks. This one gives a peek into life in Burgundy, France, seasonal menus, and cooking essentials. I also love Christmas Chronicles by Nigel Slater, Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat by Samin Nosrat, and anything by Diana Henry.
Carr’s Apple Cider Vinegar
I picked up this beautiful small batch vinegar over the summer in Massachusetts and have been loving it ever since! I add it into salad dressings and sauces. I also love their apple cider syrup.
Crane Cookware Casserole
Modern and minimal, the entire Crane cookware line is made with the highest quality materials and looks beautiful sitting on the stove.
Selection of Wines
Every year, we get my Mom a selection of wine and it is the gift that keeps on giving. It is a nice way to try new brands and have a winter stockpile. I love going to boutique wine stores that have knowledgeable people to help choose a variety of sparkling, white, and reds.
Cooking Lesson
Experience-based gifts are some of the best gifts in my opinion. I like the idea of giving a cooking lesson to a beginner cook or something more specific for a more advanced cook. Check local cooking schools or specialty food stores for classes.
