The Winter Skincare Reset
January. The month where everyone goes into overdrive with resolutions, fitness routines, and healthful promises. Well my routine consists of a little winter skincare reset. These current products are particularly meaningful since they highlight a few things I am passionate about: sustainability, attention to ingredients and performance. Read on for my current routine…
FACE
Tata Harper is and always will be a staple in my routine. If you’re a reader of the blog, you will know I am a longtime devotee of her product range (I posted about her first in 2013!) I love everything the brand stands for: focused active ingredients, glass recyclable, but luxury feeling packaging, and the results.
Lately I have been doing an initial cleanse with the Nourishing Oil Cleanser. If you love an oily cleanser, this is the queen of them all. I love that it breaks down makeup, feels calming and soothing, but does not leave one bit of residue which I sometimes find with a balm or an oil. Next, I will use the Purifying Cleanser , which is a detoxifying cleanser and leaves skin feeling fresh and clean and ready for serum.
After cleansing, I will use the Brightening Essence and as suggested, while skin is still damp, use with the Boosted Contouring Serum, to make a pump or two go along way. My skin feels fresh and rejuvenated in the morning. I also use the Boosted Contouring Eye Balm, which is thick and needs to be warmed slightly before patting around the eyes, but feels deeply hydrating to the delicate eye area.
No matter how many new products I will try, I will always have Tata in my beauty arsenal.
BODY
Probably what gets the most neglect is the body, I try to be a committed dry brusher, pre-shower, which I prefer to body scrubs. I then like to apply Detox Mode Altogether Spray-On Oil, because it makes life oh-so-very-easy to quickly spritz and pat, plus it has a pleasing citrus scent. When I want to bring in the big moisture guns, I love the Weleda Skin Food Body Butter. This thick buttery moisturizer has few ingredients, feels rich and delicious, and is affordable.
A recent discovery is new brand By Humankind, blending chic minimalist packaging, good product, with a sustainability ethos. I have been using the deodorant, which is available in a few different scents or unscented. Once you run out, you can purchase a refill that fits snuggly in the container, reducing the need to purchase plastic deodorant container after container aka single-use plastic.
I have also been enjoying their grapefruit hand soap next to my sink, as well as the cotton swabs that are 100% biodegradable.
Finally I love a hot bath and Susanne Kaufmann’s Winter Oil is a luxurious option to add to it. It smells of orange, cloves, and cinnamon and is deliciously warming when poured into a bath.
Happy New Year!
