Easy Summer Beauty Routine
When the weather gets warmer, I really love a pared-down beauty routine. Over the years, I have found myself wearing a lot less makeup, using a few good products that are preferably natural, and embracing a fresh-faced look. I love natural skin, a hint of bronze, a sheer wash of color, curled eyelashes, and a natural lip.
I rarely wear powder products anymore and tend to lean towards cream formulations that blend into the skin. Here is my less is more beauty routine.
FACE
I have been absolutely loving the Illuminare Mineral Foundation. It feels like the type of brand that you would find in a random spa, but it gives the most beautiful natural coverage. ( I order on Amazon from their official brand page.)
I love that it is a mineral formulation, oil-free, and blends naturally into the skin. It is lightweight but very pigmented, almost a foundation-concealer hybrid that I put in the areas I want to even out. It says it is a “moisturizing” foundation, which is usually a word I would avoid, but it is more glowy and second-skin-like. Also, they have very few colors with color names that aren’t necessarily what I would describe them as. I am usually a light beige color, but I mix the two shades of porcelain and fair in this range depending on the season.
CHEEKS
For a hint of bronze, I like the Dr. Hauschka Bronzing Tint. It is sheer and liquid and I like to add it around the perimeters of my face and neck. (Drunk Elephant Sunshine Serum is similar, but I prefer to mix those into my sunscreen.)
If I want even a little more bronze, I opt for a cream bronzer such as the RMS Beauty Buriti Bronzer. I blend it in with hands and it gives you a sunkissed look.
For cheeks, I use the Olio E Osso Cheek Balms. I have the fresh pink color, French Melon, that adds a very sheer, dewy glow. This formula is a balm and it gives you a glow-from-within, plus you can also use on lips or eyes.
If I want even more glow, I will add a touch of Tata Harper In Very Flashy, a creamy gold color that is universally flattering.
SUNCARE + BODY
For the face, I have always used Control Correctives Oil-Free Sunscreen. It doesn’t feel like sunscreen at all, doesn’t clog pores, and is a nice light moisturizer. with SPF 30. It makes a good base for makeup.
I was looking to buy a new body sunscreen that is clean, so I have been using the Beauty Counter Countersun Mineral Sunscreen Mist. This is a physical sunscreen for when you need extra protection from the sun. It also comes in a tinted version.
I have always used natural deodorants and these ones from The Detox Market are a new favorite. They have two formulas: Feeling Altogether (neroli and cardamom with baking soda or Feeling Free (lavender and eucalyptus without baking soda.) I love the smooth application!
For dry summer lips, I have been enjoying Beautycounter Lip Conditioner in Peppermint. It is nourishing and smells minty!
