Canyon Cool

The thing about California is there is always somewhere new to explore. I had driven through Topanga Canyon before but never really stopped to see all it had to offer. Off the PCH, it is a 12 mile interpass between the ocean and San Fernando Valley. It served as a haven for artists and musicians in the 70's and still has that same funky, low key vibe. My sister and I decided to spend the afternoon, first stopping at The Topanga Table, a cute little cafe with dreamy interior goals for a late breakfast of omelettes and cold brews. We then continued on popping into some shops including the Dust & Fog, a vintage store with repurposed Levis, rock n' roll tees and suede coats. Last stop was the infamous, Inn of the Seventh Ray.  Hidden among a woodland setting, outdoor seating overlooks a quiet creek. It is filled with twinkly lights, fireplaces, and bubbling fountains with floating flowers, a midsummer night's dream fantascist heaven.

It was a hot and lovely afternoon spent in one of the largest wilderness areas within a city limit, basically a quick escape to a place that did not feel like bustling LA. I would definitely recommend for somewhere a little off the beaten path.
