Packing for Wine Country

Napa Valley here I come! As I am going for 3 days, a carry-on is do-able, and allows you to walk straight off the plane into the car, 60 minute drive, and you are that much closer to a glass of wine in hand,

One of my favorite things about wine country in general is the relaxed and causal atmosphere. One minute you may be walking around the grape vines, doing a tasting, or walking into town for an early dinner. In that case, I see no need for heels and stick to the basics.  I like to take a day dress or two, a pair of jeans that can be dressed up or down, a T-Shirt and blouse, and a sweater or blazer for cooler evenings. Here I have laid out a few of my favorite packing tips and a simple weekend packing list.

PACKING TIPS

  • Lay out your outfits and cut out excess bulk. Be realistic about what you will actually be wearing on a daily basis.
  • Wear your heaviest layer on the plane, like a chunky sweater or leather jacket.
  • Use packing cubes. These are my favorite way to organize my clothes into sections : I use small packing cubes for undergarments and bathing suits, a large packing cube for t-shirts and day dresses, separate bags for shoes, and depending on the trip, a large packing cube can also be used for workout clothes, pajamas, or an airplane outfit. (These packing cubes are my favorite.) I lay jeans on the bottom.
  • If you travel a lot, having a pre-packed toiletry bag makes life easy. I like to fill it with samples or travel-sized products. Muji is the best place when it comes to travel sized containers that you can decant your favorite products into. I also love their clear zippered pouches that I like to keep my passport, ticket, and a streamlined wallet in, it makes going through security a breeze.
