The Sweater Guide
Now that it’s November, it means cooler mornings and warmer layers. I love this time of year because it makes getting dressed a dream. I live in my uniform of sweaters and jeans.
Owning good sweaters take investment and care. Again, quality over quantity. I love cashmere and wool. I find that cheaper brand sweaters really wear out more quickly, where good quality sweaters stand the test of time if you take a few extra steps. Which leads me to how I care for my sweaters. First, I try not to wash them until they really need it. I also don’t bring them to dry cleaners where they are using stronger ingredients that break down the fibers more quickly. I soak mine in a plastic tub with a gentle laundry detergent, roll it in a dry towel to get rid of excess water, and then allow it to dry on another dry towel.
Every year, I take a tally of my sweaters. I have a few I have had for years, the classics: black, navy, and gray cashmere crew sweater, plus a striped Isabel Marant sweater I really love. This year I added this cafe-au-lait beauty of sweater (seen in the photos) and this deep cognac cashmere cardigan (seen in this last post) to my collection.
My favorite brands for sweaters are : Vince, Theory, and Jenni Kayne. I also like Sezane and Everlane for budget-friendlier options. Everlane offers a variety of cashmere styles for $100, like this cashmere sweatshirt. Here are a few good options below:
