A Date with Spring
Spring is in swing and I thought I would share some recent favorites. I can’t believe we are already to May!
WEARING
I really don’t buy many shoes, mainly because once I find the few I like, I wear them to death. I owned a pair of the Gucci Mules, but there was something I really loved about the classic loafer style. These really are timeless and go with everything I own. I especially like the white leather since I live in California and they go with light jeans and a white T-Shirt. TIP: the leather does start to crease with wear, so I like to stuff the toes with tissue at night, once I put them back in my closet. I also like to use a Magic Eraser for any scuff marks.
COOKING
Years ago, I wanted to try make gnocci, needless to say it was an epic fail. I decided to give it another crack and it couldn’t have been easier or more delicious. The key is to bake the potatos versus boil them. Once you form the dough, you boil for a few minutes and they turn into light pillows. I finished mine with butter, parmesan cheese, and fried sage.
ENTERTAINING
Did you see my Spring Entertaining post? I was really happy with how it turned out! It’s a reminder of all the beautiful spring vegetables, fruit, and flowers available this time of year! I made a Buttercream Cake with Strawberries and it was yum!
READING
I just finished this book Save Me the Plums by Ruth Reichl. She talks about her time as the editor of Gourmet, how the publishing business changed once the internet struck, along with many stories about living in New York and working for Conde Nast. She is an amazing story teller and you feel like she is in the room with you. One particular chapter she describes a delicious lunch at Pearl Oyster Bar meeting with a prospective editor. She takes you through the meal dish by dish, ending with a butterscotch pudding! Now it is all I can think about.
LOVING
I love effortless makeup. Jillian Dempsey’s line of creamy eye and cheek tints are becoming some of my most favorite makeup bits. Everyday I wear the Eyelid Tint in Glimmer, which is a pale golden peach. It gives the eye a touch of color, but also a very natural glossy sheen. I also have been loving the clear version in Dew which I love putting on the browbone or even doubles as a highlighter on the cheekbone. For a sunkissed nude, I love the Cheek Tint in Sunny. It instantly warms the face and adds a glow. I love that these products are vegan, formulated without parabens or irritants, so they are truly safe. Because they are made from natural ingredients like coconut oil and she butter, it feels more like skincare than makeup.
