A Frest Start | Rituals for the New Year

Happy New Year! I know we are a few weeks in, but I am happy to greet the new year slowly and mindfully.

I wanted to started the year with a few things I wanted to think about in 2023.

Home Cooking

I am excited to be back in my routine of cooking. With the holidays and travel, I am now back to going to my weekly farmers markets. I have about 2 pages full of notes of recipes I want to make and have live permanently on the blog. Lately I have been making lots of vegetable forward recipes : roasted carrots with yogurt, broccoli rabe pasta, vegetable soups.

Clean Sweep

I did a big closet cleanup before the beginning of the year. It made me assess everything I have and what I really wear all the time. I feel very content with the clothing in my closet and taking away all the things that hang there month after month has been very freeing!

Mindful Purchasing

After taking a deeper look into my closet, anything that I buy in future will be filing out any gaps. I recently did a round up of my Winter Wardrobe Edit. These are the items I wear over and over again. For now I am content and will wait for Spring for any new purchases.

Sustainable Practices

Something that is really important to me is being environmentally conscious . I want to do a full post on a few ways I make these efforts in my daily life: composting, buying local, recyclable packaging (as little plastic as possible), gardening (planting bee-friendly plants), feeding birds, and reusable bags.

Movement

My active golden retriever has 3 to 4 walks a day, so by the time I get around to thinking about a workout, it feels like there is no time left. I recently started doing few yoga routines and have really enjoyed that, but want to find a few other things to keep my interest.

Joyfullness

Being open to new experiences, more joy, more opportunity for learning and growth!
