Summer Skin Saviors

As August rolls around, I can’t believe we are at the midsummer point. It's the height of summer, and I have a bit of color, but skin starts to look a little dry and dull. Today, I am sharing a few tips in my summer skin routine to keep skin healthy and glowing.

1. EXFOLIATION

I have a few different methods when it comes to exfoliation. Dry brushing has become a part of my regular routine and I do it 2-3x a week. I have found it really smooths skin, increases circulation, and detoxifies. ( see how-to video here.) When I really want to get my skin in tiptop shape, I have been using the Goop 5 Salt Detox Body Scrub. While I never really felt like scrubs work, rather they  slipped off right into the drain, this one fleaves skin with this velvety smooth texture because of the oil blend. Pro Tip : Before turning on the shower, scrub in circular motions all over, then turn on shower to rinse. This really gets maximum exfoliation. On other days, I like to use the Goop Glacial Marine Clay Cleanser. It cleanses and softens skin.

2. Hydration

In the summer skin is being exposed to more elements more: sun, sand, salt water. It needs an extra dose of hydration. I have been loving this One Love Organics Vitamin C Body Oil,  because it has papaya enzymes which gently buff the skin, while deeply hydrating. If you ever have a bit of a flaky tan, this gets rid of it and makes skin look so smooth.

3. Enhance a Tan

Besides using lots of SPF, I try not to expose my skin to a lot of sun. But nothing is worse than being the pale one by the pool. So I like to use gradual moisturizer to take the edge off, and have almost used up an entire bottle of the Coola Gradual Sunless Tan Firming Lotion. It gives a really good natural color, but you don’t have to worry about it streaking. I apply with hands and just rinse them after. If you really want to get skin looking perfect, especially if you have a special evening event or wedding, Vita Liberata Body Blur is a game changer. It tans, blurs, and covers up marks or bruises, and it dries down so it won't transfer. I have this on hand at all times.
