A Spring Al Fresco Table to Inspire Your Easter Sunday

Those first signs of Spring are here and what better way to welcome in the season than with an al fresco meal. This is one of my favorite times of the year as it signals the start of warmer days, fresh produce, cool glasses of wine, and entertaining outside. I wanted to share my easy tips for decorating and planning ahead so you can have just as enjoyable time as your guests!

The Decor

I am always inspired by what is in season especially this time of year when it is all about those first Spring blooms! Since I knew I wanted the flowers and the food to be the highlight, I wanted the backdrop to be layered neutrals.

First, I always like to start with a rough linen tablecloth in a natural (as seen here) or a cream color. Next, I added my beloved Meghan Flynn Ceramics dinner plates, salad plates and bowls, gold flatware, and cream white linen napkins. I also used Spanish wine glasses and my Jenni Kayne rattan carafe to serve water.

For the flowers, I found beautiful white lilacs at the flower market and had one big statement vase, along with smaller bouquets along the table. (TIP: I actually bought other colorful Spring flowers, but once I saw it all together, I like the simplicity of the white and allowed the color to be in the food.)

The Menu

Sausage, Broccoli Rabe, Spring Garlic and Mozzarella Pizza

Baby Lettuce Salad with Spring Peas and Meyer Lemon Vinaigrette

Strawberry Vanilla Layer Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting

Since I really adhere to the seasonal living state of mind, I always start thinking about what ingredients are at their peak and what would be at the farmers market this time of year. Spring always brings out peas, asparagus, artichokes, spinach, spring garlic, baby lettuces, and the first of the strawberries.

Everything was easy to have prepared ahead of time. I had the flatbread all made up and then slipped into the oven for 15-20 minutes and it was ready to serve! It turned out so delicious!

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend celebrating Easter or Passover. Comment below telling me what you think of the table and what you are looking forward to this Spring!
