Fall Notes
Hi ! Happy October! I love this time of year. I love getting my house cozy, starting to wear some layers and most of all, cooking some of my favorite dishes. Here are some things I have been up to lately.
COOKING
I have been diving into making pasta lately. I made ricotta raviolis with sungold tomatoes and I want to make a version with brown butter next. I also made eggplant parmesan from Gabrielle Hamilton’s Prune cookbook and it was delicious! This time of year, i always want to incorporate apples and pears, so I have been making apple crisps and pear clafoutis. I will share some new recipes soon!
READING
I just finished listening to Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef by Gabrielle Hamilton on audio. It is absolutely fantastic and listening to her read it made it that much more meaningful. (You must also watch her season Mind of a Chef, it is brilliant!) I am starting to read Autumn Light by Pico Iyer, as well as listen to The Dutch House by Ann Patchett. Tom Hanks lends his perfect voice for the audio narration.
WEARING
It seems ridiculous to say that California is now having the perfect weather, but this week has been so beautiful. It is in the 70’s and sunny, and all I want to do is be outside. I have added some fast favorites to my wardrobe : a beige wool blazer, cashmere cardigan, and some new trousers. I have some new posts coming up on these!
BEAUTY
I have been vigilant with my skincare and have been incorporating Tata Harper’s concentrated brightening essence and serum into my regimen to help with uneven skintone and give a dose of hydration to the skin. I also have been loving using the Dr. Hauschka Bronzing Tint to give skin a very natural bronze. I want to do an updated post, as I really have been loving my beauty routine as of late.
DO
Lately, I have been focused on cleaning my home and making it extra cozy. I found the sweetest little olive plants at Trader Joes of all places, and put them on my mantle piece. I also bought a William Sonoma Spiced Chestnut candle, which has that right amount of autumn scent without it being sickly. I have also been on the hunt for some new pieces such as a side table. I also have been loving all the vintage fabric pillows at Amber Interiors.
