Autumn Staples : New Classics

AutumnHoundstoothxCC.JPG

The leaves in California have been exceptionally colorful and beautiful this year, so we took a drive to Agoura Hills, about 30 minutes outside of Los Angeles where there are some scenic winding back roads. The light and the foliage was just the dose of autumnal beauty this New Englander yearns for this time of year.

It made for a good excuse to finally change out of the loungewear rotation and pull out some old favorites to mix in with this new coat. It is never hard to justify a new coat, which smartens up anything that may lay underneath (even the previously mentioned loungewear.) I love the oversized style, houndstooth print, and good price point.

If there is anything I wear the most it is denim. I only need a few good pairs that will work with any outfit. This cream pair by Re/Done is my favorite pair (seen in many previous posts.) The high-rise ankle crop style is flattering and the raw edge gives them an effortless cool factor. (Purchase through Jenni Kayne, and get 20% off with the code CAITLINC20.)

Lastly, I have been loving this suede Chelsea boot from Vince. The rugged sole updates a timeless shoe style and the deep brown hue looks good with any color pants. I always gravitate towards suede because of the way it always enhances an outfit with a richer texture and it is not as jolting as hard shiny leather. This pair will always be in style.
