A Day on the Farm
On a warm August morning, we headed to a day at Underwood Family Farms. It is a ‘You Pick,’ farm located about 50 minutes outside of Los Angeles. You gather up your basket, clippers, and head out to the fields on the tractor.
The first stop was rows and rows of tomato plants bursting at the seams with juicy peak summer tomatoes. There were so many different varieties to choose from on plants taller than my head. From there, we picked peppers, lettuces, squash, raspberries, basil, dill blossoms, and ended in the flower fields.
It was such an inspiring day and made me think of how important it is to appreciate where our food comes from and to honor the people who plant, grow, and harvest it all. It is not easy work!
I plan to come back season after season and highly recommend a trip.
