Table Essentials for Hosting

It is the season of hosting and I have hosted more dinner parties than I ever have in past years. I rely on some beautiful essentials I have collected over the years to set an elegant table.

In winter, I love to layer shades of ivory and cream to evoke the season. I add in little hints of gold and silver with the flatware or candle holders, and light candlesticks to add an instant warmth.

For linens, I use the Williams Sonoma Italian Washed linen tablecloth and napkins. I wash these weekly and they have held up really well.

For plates, I love the creamy white of the John Julian plates. They are handmade in Wiltshire and the glaze is so beautiful in person. I also have some Royal Copenhagen white fluted side plates I like to use for salads or desserts.

Over the years I have collected different flatware. I change it up between this matte gold set (much better than other sets that fade or chip over time) and vintage sterling silver flatware.

Lighting is very important to a party. Candlelight is always beautiful and my longtime favorite brand is Greentree Home, hand made 100% eco-friendly beeswax tapers. I alternate between the natural and the ivory.

For candleholders, I love to collect these from antique shops. I have silver, crystal and ceramic ones that I use, depending on the meal and the setting.

Lastly for glassware, I love the Ichendorf Milano glasses for water or wine. I also rely on Schott Zwiesel wine glass line, which can be easily replaced if a glass has been broken.

Happy Hosting!
