Labor Day Weekend was hot, let me tell you that. With excessive heat warnings and temperatures around the 115 degree mark, all I can say is oy! Unknowing of just how hot a weekend it would turn out to be, a last minute trip to the Santa Ynez Valley was already in the works, so off we went according to our plan.

Read MoreThe thing about California is there is always somewhere new to explore. I had driven through Topanga Canyon before but never really stopped to see all it had to offer. Off the PCH, it is a 12 mile interpass between the ocean and San Fernando Valley. It served as a haven for artists and musicians in the 70's and still has that same funky, low key vibe.
